MCP on Lambda has taken over 🚀☁️ #77
Streamable HTTP makes it possible for stateless and Serverless MCP on Lambda
In the previous issue, Cloudflare Workflows Breaking in the World of Workflows 🚀☁️ #76 we looked at how Cloudflare has been innovating in the Serverless space with Workflows, Queues, and many other updates.
With the Streamable HTTP, it is now possible to build stateless and serverless Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers on AWS Lambda. And ever since that, there have been multiple code repositories and content cooked up with MCP on AWS Lambda, not just the infrastructure with AWS Lambda, but also deploying with different IaC providers. Also, Serverless Inc, launched Serverless MCP which is part of the Serverless Framework CLI and helps in debugging AWS Serverless resources within IDEs like Cursor.
⭐ Pick of the month
This month’s Pick is “Infrastructure as Code“.
Thomas Taylor applies event filters to AWS Lambda Functions with AWS CDK, which brings in how you can use it as part of IaC, but also sheds light on troubleshooting InvalidParameterValueException
error.
Davide De Sio explains in detail how to deploy a minimal MCP Server on AWS Lambda via Serverless Framework and has a whole series on MCP servers on Lambda with different IaC options.
Jones Zachariah Noel N (author) shares why no one size fits all which is also true for selecting IaC tool with things to keep in mind while selecting the IaC tool of your choice with Serverless apps considering IaC as the direction.
🚀 AWSome content to learn from
Satyam Gupta writes about Amazon SQS and why it’s a crucial component for decoupling microservices and dives into some of the real-world use-cases along with Standard and FIFO queues.
Lee Gilmore’s blog Dedicated Outbound IP Address with AWS Lambda, breaks down how you can use the dedicated IP address for egress with Lambda and a walkthrough using a CDK example.
Marcos Henrique dives deep into validating Amazon Bedrock (Nova Lite) outputs with Step Function and CDK with a detailed walkthrough of the State Machine and the Lambda functions, along with benchmarked response results.
Orel Bello takes a dig at unlocking efficiency through Lambda-powered workflows, taking into account multiple use-cases where automation and EDA combination triggering Lambda functions.
Jigar Panchmatia explains how New Relic’s approach to monitoring AWS Lambda Response Streaming bringing the insights of real-time response, debugging invocations, and metrics of throughput and outbound bytes.
Supercharge your Serverless Workflow by Elias Brange explains how local debugging, personal ephemeral environments and using Rust’s WireMock in Lambda Extensions to mock external HTTP requests brings in a great DX.
Serverless is not a scam brings in the best things about Serverless while also talking about it’s architecture, pricing and the managed approach, which makes is brilliant choice but “choosing the right one” is the mantra!
Harsh Mishra, Marco Edoardo Palma and Quetzalli Writes explain how to debug Lambda locally using LocalStack’s Lambda Debug Mode without any hassle debugging multiple Lambda functions simultaneously.
